Hari ini, pada saat berbuka puasa aku tertegun..
Puasa kali ini terasa sangat sepi.. hanya aku dan mama..
Kali ini aku seperti dibangunkan dari mimpi..
Tiba-tiba aku merasa sangat kehilangan..
Disaat aku benar-benar ingin merasakan kehangatan keluarga
Disaat aku benar-benar merindukan keramaian keluarga
Tiba-tiba aku merasa semuanya sudah terlambat..
Semua sudah berubah..
Waktu telah berlalu tanpa permisi..
Aku kehilangan waktu bersama keluarga menanti waktu berbuka puasa..
Aku kehilangan moment-moment buka puasa bersama keluarga .. (UTUH!)
I Love You My Family.. !!!

Essay [Modern Techonology Caused Traditional Skills and The Way of Life Die Out]
Intentionally, every country in the world has tried to improve more and more their modern science. Some people argue that it develops some traditional values fade away. I can not agree with this idea for the following reasons.
To begin with, the new invention is the improvement of the old one. We may not discover modern technology without learning to the ancient skills – what we have now bases on the traditional ideas. For example, the most revolutionary new invention of the last century, the internet, is the upgrading of the previous technology such as typewriter and telephone connection.
People might prefer the latest health treatment and throw the obsolete one. But for some people, they still use the traditional one. Natural medicines has proven that the traditional knowledge still useful for people. They are proven that they do not have side effects for human body than chemical drugs. Moreover, many people still look for an alternative way which is the traditional skill like massages in order to heal the pain.
It is clear that we can not totally leave the traditional ideas. The latest invention does not exist without the ancient one. We should keep traditional skills and treasure them to the next generation as the tremendous heirlooms.

Essay [Banning Private Cars Into City Centers]
In recent years, every big city in the world, with a growing of economics has largely developed number of buildings such as apartments, offices and malls in the designated areas. Meanwhile, a lot of cars and motorcycles are coming down to reach those facilities in the central of city everyday. Gradually, the problem of traffic jam is starting to become obvious and serious. Local government has implemented several regulations to stop increasing of using private vehicles, in fact, it does not help apparently.
Limiting cars and other private transportations enter the city may lead the decreasing of air pollution problem. Most of producing hazardous gasses in the air are dominated by private cars and motorcycles. Less using them on the road will reduce the risks of air pollution. More advantage by restricting private vehicles in city centers is giving solution for traffic jam problem. Too many cars on the street causes the congestion in the central city is decreasing dramatically. It is difficult to drive around the city because no adequate space for cars to ride. Moreover, the people will take more time heading their destinations.
The drawbacks will appear if government do not give alternative ways following the regulations of banning private cars into the city - people will flout the rules and try to find another loophole. For example, citizen in Jakarta still use their own cars because the number of Trans Jakarta, one of public transportation in the city, do not meet their expectation. By this I mean people are still reluctant to benefit that facilities because the routes of busway, another name of Trans Jakarta, do not accommodate all destinations. More instance, the 3 in 1 ordinance in Jakarta does not work properly because the owner of cars hire people on the street who need money to meet the minimum requirement of three people in one car.
It is clear that banning private cars in the city centers delivers many advantages. As consequences, government should supply good alternative facilities for citizen in order to direct them choosing public transportations instead.

Essay [ Nuclear Technology ]
Nuclear technology has been developing rapidly over the years. The development of nuclear technology is considered as one of the most important new invention in the world. Existing application of nuclear technology like deadly weapon, in fact, lead to the peace of the world. Nuclear technology delivers many advantages rather than the drawbacks.
First and foremost, Nuclear technology is one of the cleanest ways to produce electricity. Nuclear energy produces electricity by fission of uranium not the burning of fuels. As a result, it does not create air pollution and neither contribute to urban smog or acid rain. Moreover, nuclear power produces frugal energy. With a growing of population and increasing reliance on electric devices, the world will need more and more electricity. Fossil fuels as a energy resource is getting less recently and soon becoming rare. Nuclear energy can be alternative energy resource to solve the problem.
The main disadvantage of using nuclear technology is public fear of the unpredictable consequences caused by using nuclear energy. Many people around the globe believe that there are hidden dangers scientists may have overlooked, and that they may cause serious damage to human livelihood, wildlife and ultimately the world. But, by the new technology, the risks can be further reduced and simultaneously operating more safely than ever before.
It is clear that using nuclear technology delivers many benefit to the world. People should use this technology for the right and appropriate goals.

Essay [ Youth Suicide]
In recent years, and especially in developed countries, many young people seem to suffer from stress. The problem seems to be reaching crisis point for some of these young people, and some teenagers are even attempting to commit suicide because of it. The number of youth suicides is unfortunately increasing.
What are some causes of stress among young people and how could this be ameliorated?
The suicide number of teenagers is increasing rapidly especially in the first countries. Many of young people are not able to stop their unbearable feelings or an intolerable situation. At time like this, they feel like suicide is the only way out.
Going to school or college can be a difficult transition period for most of students. They may feel lost, lonely, confused, anxious, and stressed. And these problems may lead to depression. If those feeling are untreated, it will lead to be depressed. The depression is the number one cause of suicide. For example, if students feel unacceptable in their new environment which is school or college, then they feel totally alone and isolated in their new place. This situation may lead them to be depressed. And if their depressed are reluctant to get treatment, they may commit suicide.
Moreover, a requirement of good marks and also the competition at school whether healthy or unhealthy is running the students to desperation. They are pushed into many extra curricular as well. Those problems can be stressors for them and leading them to end their life.
Personal problems like a family crisis or the ending of relationship can make the sense of pain. If this sense is overwhelmed, it may contribute someone feeling suicidal. For instance, if the young people are broken heart, they feel so painful. They try to heal their feeling by drinking alcohol or even drugs.
Shockingly, if their feeling is extremely hurt, they prefer to die.
On the whole, there are several solutions to reduce number of youth suicide. First and foremost is decreasing number of stressors. Second, coping with the emotion pain and trying to solve the problems. There is always way out for every problems in the world.

Essay [Forcing People Aged 55 Years and Above to Retire and Replacing Them With Younger Generation]
In the current economic climate, where jobs in many industries are under threat, some commentators have suggested that people aged 55 years and above should be forced to retire and be replaced by younger generation.
To what extend do you agree with this statement?
Many industries are in very serious problem recently due to economic climate recently. some people argue that one of the solutions is to retire people aged 55 above and hire younger employees. I tend to disagree for that solution for the following reasons.
First and foremost, people's abilities do not relate to their ages. The idea that the older the people, the weaker they are in terms of abilities and skills might be not acceptable. Many leaders in the world aged 55 above are great leaders. They have tremendous skills to manage their organizations. moreover, they have more experiences of life than young people, as the result they are more well prepared when they face problems.
Base on their physical body, 55 year old people can perform well. By this i mean, they are still able to work as hard and fit as young people, apparently. Undoubtedly, young people are eager to get new experiences at work, and their fresh ideas are needed by the companies. If both knowledge and power of young and old generation are combined, it is conceivable that may lead companies to be more productive. The synergy between them can serve a tremendous help in encouraging problems in companies.
In brief, forcing people aged 55 above to retire and replacing them with younger generation is not acceptable to be done due to economic problems. Besides the reason of that base on their ages does not really make sense, it indeed also discrimination.

Essay
The women position in society has gradually changed nowadays. However, many problems of teenagers, such as juvenile delinquency, arise from the fact that they have working mother and do not have enough time to get care from their mother.
Some people argue for that statement above for the reason that they think working mother do not have enough time to care for their children. They spend almost their time everyday at work, and when they are back, they will be so tired and cranky. The responsibility for child rearing, they delegate it to babysitters, as a consequence children grow up with lack of parental guidance. As the result, they feel lonely and unacceptable at home, then they try to find a way to protest their parents by doing something negative, such as smoking, drugs and free sex.
There also some good reasons why women decided to work. One of it is to support their financial. Father as a bread winner has not enough income to cover all the family's necessities, then mother try to support it by working. Moreover, globalization has also changed women position in society. Men and women consider to have the same right in terms of implementing their skills and abilities. Being a career women is one of the way to express their self.
It is clear that there are some good arguments on both side, but the most important is women should know their priorities whether to have a good career or to take care their children. They should consider their children indeed need their fully attention. Children's future are on parents' hands.

Imaginary Story
My name is Peter. I am 25 years old and i work for a bank in my town. I am ready to get married and start a family. Unfortunately, I am a little bit shy, so its not easy for me to make relationship. It is not because I am not a nice person, but because I am not brave to approach a woman I like.
One day, i decided to join a speed dating party in my town. I met one woman who matches my criteria. Her name is Marry, she is 24 years old. She lives in the countryside, does not really like to go out, and prefers staying at home. We agreed to meet at her house after that. I was really nervous because it would be my first date after a long time.
I woke earlier on the saturday. I prepared everything for the date. A bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a bottle of wine were ready to carry out. I stayed alone at my apartment, so brought my dog along with me. I was afraid he would make may apartment messy if i left him alone.
On the way to marry's house, i was thinking about what I would do. I made some plan to do together. I imagined that we would hold hands together walking in the countryside. Having lunch in front of her house was also in my head. I hope it would be a perfect date.
I arrived her house at 10 am. She was waiting for me in front of the door. I was so excited. I was holding a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates and smiled at her. My dog also got out of my car and followed me. Shockingly, he ran so fast to marry. I forgot that she had two cats, and my dog ran to catch them. It was really embarrassing. My dog had ruined my date by breaking all the flowers vases and fighting with her cats.

Growing Up In A Big City And Growing Up In A Small Town Or Village
Growing up in a big city and in a small town or village are different, both bring their own advantages and disadvantages. It is difficult to say whether growing up in a big city has more advantages than growing up in a small town or village or vise versa.
The first aspect that i am going to discuss is the difference in terms of population. The population in a big city is bigger and more diversity than in a small city or village. Children in a big city have more opportunities to interact with different communities; as a result they are better at adapting to other people.
Facilities is the second aspect. It is obvious that big cities have more facilities, such as schools, hospitals, supermarkets, public transportations, etc. In big cities, there are wide range of schools for children to choose. Also, most of prestigious schools are located in big cities; as a result children who grow up in big cities can have a better education. In addition, the facilities like hospitals, supermarkets, public transportations, etc make living in big cities is more convenient in everyday life. The development of technology and telecomunication usually takes place in big cities. It gives more opportunities for children to widen their mind in many aspects that they might not see in the village. Otherwise, many facilities have also increased the living cost in big cities.
The most notable difference between big cities and village is their environment. The environment in big cities are polluted because many cars are driven and many factories exist. Traffic jam and numbers of crime are increasing in big cities. Conversely, in the small towns or villages, children still can find fresh air and have contacts with nature and animals.
However, the place which is as perfect as paradise does not exist in the real world. The most important thing is that we should consider what children's feelings and emotions to know what they really want. Everyone's life is always full of good and bad experiences. The key is to appreciate them and find a way of turning a negative situation into a positive situation.

Plastic Bags
I went to the minimarket near my boarding house yesterday twice. On the way to AIM (My English Course) in the morning, I stopped by for a while to buy a bottle of vitamin C drink. The cashier woman gave me a small plastic bag to wrap it up. In the evening, on the way back home, I went to the same shop again to buy some snacks, and the cashier woman gave me one plastic bag again. I've got 2 plastic bags in one day.
After i've reached my boarding house and got in my room, I saw that I have collected dozens of plastic bags. Most of them were from the same shop.
I remember when I was in China last year. One day, I went to the supermarket to buy my necessities. After I finished shopping some snacks and drinks, i went to the cashier counter directly to pay them all, but the cashier woman didn't give me a plastic bag, so i grabbed one plastic bag near the counter. Shockingly, she shouted some chinese language that i didn't understand at me. To avoid affray, i put the plastic bag back to its place, and carried all the things by my hand.
Later i knew that she didn't angry with me, it was just the chinese people way to talk, loud and fast. Besides that, i understand that we have to pay for each plastic bag we take at any shops in Beijing.
From that incident too, i have learnt that Chinese Government has made regulations to reduce pollutant in Beijing. The consumers have to pay each plastic bag they take in the shops. As the result most people in Beijing bring their own shopping bags if they go to the shops. They prefer using second plastic bags or their own shopping bags than spending their money only for plastic bags.
So, why don't we follow chinese regulations ? Then, we also can solve the problem of plastic pollutant in Jakarta.
And the flood problem can be solved?? Well, it's different problem anyway :)

My Lifeline
There are some moments in my life that I will always remember. Firstly, when I was in kindergarten, I was able to read for the first time. It really made my parents proud of me. It also helped me to build my self confidence.
Secondly, when I was in high school, I was selected as one of PASKIBRAKA members. It was an unforgettable memory in my life.
Thirdly, when i graduated from high school, i was directly admitted at Government Office as officer. I was still 19 years old at that time and i could pay my study in University by myself, because i had already my own salary.
And lastly, i went to Japan for the first time in 2001. I represented my country to be young ambassador for youth exchange program called The Ship South East Asian Youth Program. It was the greatest moment of my life.
I wish there would be more great moments comming in my life !

Simplifying English Spelling
Simplifying English spelling brings advantages for the first learners of English such as children and foreign learners. Reforming the spelling of the English language can help them to read and write more easily, and improve their literacy. Furthermore, foreign learners can be sure how to pronounce an English word without hearing it first, because the alphabetic of English spelling would be more reliable. Moreover, for those who have a poor memory, their chances of becoming a good speller would be improved.
Simplification of English spelling also give some disadvantages for English users, espessially for native speakers. Changing spelling will make them confused. It could be a very huge, expensive and complicated revolution that people will be difficult to adjust to. On the other hand, the spelling of most of the words in English tell us about their history and origins and that would be lost if we make it simple.

Do You Believe in Horoscope?

Sometime i do read my horoscope for entertainment. Do i believe in what it says?
Well, I dont believe exactly what the horoscopes say for a sign, i only consider it as the advices for me because sometime it tells me what should i do, and what shouldn't i do. Sometime it's related to my life at that time, but sometime it's not.
I do not base my whole day on what a passage said my day would be like. That is ridicilous
But I do believe that a person with a particular sign is going to common with those traits..
Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it.
Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held.
Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books.
Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin.
Believe nothing just because someone else believes it.
Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true
My Niece
It's been almost one month i left my hometown. But what i miss the most is not my room, nor the food... i don't miss my parents (i don't mean to be rude mom, dad! :)), nor my brothers (haha)... but the one whom i miss a lot is my beautiful niece.
Her name is Keizha Farrsa Zaqi, we call her Faras. She is 14 months old now. She is the only grandchild of my parents. I don't have any sisters so when we knew that my sister was pregnant with a little girl, we couldn't wait to see her in this world :)
I miss her so much now..

Well, it was my fault, i din't have my dinner yesterday, i slept earlier than usual yesterday. After came back from hanging-out with my friends, i took shower then just slept.
Actually in this morning, i ate breakfast just like usual, but i think because i din't have my dinner, i got hungry very soon.. :D
Well, i dont want this happen again to me. Not only because i can't concentrate on the lesson. But also i dont want to get sick like my friends. Three of my classmates are sick today. And i don't want to be the next.
I was so hungry in a class so i couldn't concentrate with what teacher said.

One of My Favorite Poem
This is one of my favorite poem, written by an African kid, was nominated by UN as one of the best poem of 2006.
When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
and when I die, I still black
And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray
And you calling me colored?
When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
and when I die, I still black
And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray
And you calling me colored?

I do have some excellent social and career connections, but i cannot rely on them too much right now. It's much wiser to pursue my current goals by myself. Not only because it will help me strengthen my own skills, but it will help show these folks that i don't always need them for everything and also that it will improve my stature in their eyes. It's time for me to flesh out my reputation as a mover and a shaker. Looking like a follower is not going to be good for me right now.

My Assignment
Barack Obama's multi-cultural background is an advantage for him as President of The United States. As the son of a black father from Kenya and white mother from Kansas, he was born in multiracial Hawaii, grew up with Indonesian half-sibling and has chinese nephews, he can't be loyal to only one race. Multi-cultural background has also made huge power for him in his political life until he has became The President of United States. He got strong support from Hispanic voters because they are impressed with his background. He also led in national polls due to his strong advantages among latinos. Living in Indonesia during his childhood gave him a wider view of the world, moreover, it has made him the most popular US politician in Southeast Asia.

My Hometown

Finally i finished my essay for wrtting competion.. Wow... i can't belive it, i can do it hehe..
My Hometown
My hometown is really a hometown for me. Its not as big as jakarta, its not as amazing as Bali, and even its not as beautiful as Yogyakarta. But i always miss my hometown, Bengkulu. Wherever and how far i go, i always want to come back home. I love my hometown so much. I'm eager to be part in developing my hometown. That's why im working in Regional Development Planning Board of Bengkulu Province now. I am really proud of my province. Actually, nothing much you can find in hometown, only an unexplored rainforest and a beautiful and exotic long beach. In the rainforest, you can discover the largest flower of the world, Rafflesia Arnoldi and at the long beach you can find white sand and pine trees along the coast. The sky is so clear and blue. You also can experience a beautiful sunset at the dusk.
Bengkulu is the smallest and lowest populated province of Sumatra. Its only about 1,5 Million people. Bengkulu province is located on the southwest coast of Sumatra. The province protected by a stretch of mountains on the east and the ocean on the west. If you ask people where Bengkulu is, i bet nobody can show it on the map, even people in Indonesia. Yes, its true, i had been asked by my Indonesian friend which part of Kalimantan Bengkulu is. Hey, it's in Sumatra, not Kalimantan :) It's ashamed, but i can't blame them. Someday, i will proof them, Bengkulu will become famous. Many things i can explore from Bengkulu, and people in the world will know Bengkulu, not only because of a huge earthquake jolted my hometown many times, no... I don't want Bengkulu become famous because of dissaster. But much more than it. Someday... I Will.
Well, i'm going to tell about a litlle story of Bengkulu. Is it boring ? Well, i hope not. The British founded Bengkulu in 1685. It is the last territory in Indonesia to be held by the British. Sir Stamford Raffles, who later found Singapore, was lieutenant - government of Bengkulu from 1818 to 1823. Thomas Stamford Raffles was an important figure in Bengkulu history, which in 1817 was appointed as a Lieutenant-Governor of Bencoolen. In the year of his arrival, he and a botanist named Joseph Arnold discovered the world's largest flower, in South Bengkulu. The flower is now known as Rafflesia Arnoldi.
Many people in Bengkulu said, if British still stayed in Bengkulu, and didn't exchange it with Singapore to Dutch, Bengkulu could be as great as Singapore right now. I totally don't agree with that. Wow, what a shallow aggravation! Why should we be proud of it. We should build our town with all our potentials. Not because of somebody's help. Maybe Bengkulu is not as rich as other Provinces in Indonesia, we have less natural resources than other provinces in Indonesia. But it's not the reasons to fall behind.
Well, we are back to The Rafflesia Flower, because i only can tell about it now. It's a pride of Bengkulu people. And now its an offcial symbol of Bengkulu Province. Yes, i know, you can find Rafflesia Arnlodi in many places in the world. But this flower wouldn't have name Rafflesia Arnoldi, if Raffless and his botanist didn't find it at the fisrt time at the rainforest in Bengkulu.
Rafflesia Arnoldi lives as an parasite. It doesn't have leafs, stems or even roots. The diametres is nearly one metre and the weight up to 11 kilograms. It takes up 8 months to bud up, and it stays in bloom only 1-15 days. The rafflesia alrnoldi usually can be seen during rainy season, the months of November – February. Tabah Penanjung, an hour drive into the hills above Bengkulu is a nature reserve where rafflesias are often found. Unfortunattely we can not see it everywhere in rainforest, the places and the growth times are unpredictable. But if you come at this time, you probably find it since it is rainy season now in my hometown.
Welcome to Rafflesia City.
Men Don't Cry
Who said that a man has no right to cry? Who are you to tell what a man can or cannot do? Who said that crying is only for women?
Both men and women are human, made of the same materials (if I may say so), and have - of course - emotions. Both can feel happy, sad, annoyed etc. What makes them different is physical appearance (resulted in different role) and social treatment. The later is not originated from God's rule. It's a cultural product.
Women are always considered weaker than men. On the other hand, men have to be always stronger, tougher than woman, physically and emotionally. That's not fair. Crying is one of emergency way to get better when we feel sad. If the sadness is too much to handle, then what else can we do? Cry! This is much better than pretending that we are strong (because of we are men) while we have no way to make our burden lighter. It has no relation at all with strength or weakness. This is only a way to avoid from being deppressed by our sadness.
But what we will find in this real world is there is a kind of convention that men don't cry. That's why most of men look very tough in public, but they cry out loud in their own hidden-private-room. This is still better than trying to pretend as a tough people anytime and not to cry when it is time to cry.
The question is why should we do a very hard efford not to cry, while we can easily laugh anywhere (in public or private sphere)? This is what I called unfair. Some experts say that both laugh or cry stimulate our brain to create a chemical reaction so that we feel better, even when we are very depressed. Referring to this, I suggest you not to feel ashamed when you want to cry. Just let your tears drop down your cheeks when you think that could make you feel better. Just be natural, even if you're a man!

My 1st blog
In order to achieve my goal to study in Holland, I still have a few steps to be passed. I got already the scholarship from NESO (Netherlands Education Support Office), and now I should apply by myeself to the university in Holland which is suitable with my study and work background. It is not a simple thing to do. I have to submit several requirements.
Actually i have already the admission letter from one of the university in Holland, it is ISS (Institute of Social Studies). But its Conditional Admission, it means i have to complete one of the conditionals that i din't complete it yet, IELTS with minimun score of 6.5 or TOEFL with minimum score of 580.
I never had IELTS test before, so i dont know what the test is like. Luckily, NESO give me a chance to improve my english skills by taking an english course for 4,5 months here, at AIM.
Its been 2 weeks, yeahhh... it s still a long way to go, and i hope i can achieve it before the dead line.
Wish me all the best..
